This drawing workshop introduces charcoal, the age old artist material, in an outdoor setting. Learn about different types of charcoal, their uses, and the drawing tools to use with these materials. Various drawing techniques will be taught and students will learn from guided drawing exercises then drawing from observation. In good weather, participants will be able to choose a spot on the farm to draw in plein air. This class is perfect for anyone who wants to improve their drawing skills and learn to use a material fundamental to artist training! Drawing materials and supplies are provided. Participants may bring their own chair, and water bottle, and should be prepared to work outside.

Instructor:

Veronica Batter is a dedicated artist and educator with over a decade of teaching experience. After graduating from Moore College of Art and Design, with distinction, she went on to teach art at area schools spanning grades K-12th grade. She spent ten years teaching at Sun Valley High School, enriching the art department, and was co-founder of the annual arts gala Arts Alive. During her teaching career she earned a Masters of Liberal Studies with highest honors from Widener University. Veronica continues to create and teach and is actively involved in her local community, advocating for a rich and welcoming cultural corridor along Chester Creek.
